Ministers are calling for specialist police training to curb crime

With crime on the rise in society, State Endowment Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy has stressed the need to provide specialized training to the police to curb it. He attended the Dikshant Parade (passenger parade) at the District Police Training Center (DPTC) at Chemudugunta of Venkatachalam mandal in SPSR Nellore district on Saturday as the chief guest.

Addressing the 176 Stipendiary Cadet Trainee Police Constables (SCTPC) who completed their training here, he said, “Whereas previously the posts of constables were mainly filled by those with Class X qualifications, individuals with degrees and higher education are now joining the police force. Police duties are not limited to security as they also play a key role in serving the public.”

The minister appreciated the initiative to provide training in various areas like physical fitness, technical knowledge, legal awareness and control of cyber crime. He advised that the fitness achieved during training should be maintained even after more than 30 years of service.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Power Gottipati Ravi Kumar attended the passenger parade held at DPTC, Ongola as the chief guest. He urged the passed out participants not to stop training but to develop and improve their understanding of modern investigative techniques.

The new constables were urged to carry out their duties with honesty, discipline and public service. They were advised to maintain good health and focus on solving crimes.

Out of 190 interns in this batch, 16 were post graduate students, 34 were B.Tech graduates, 121 were degree holders and 19 were intermediate. The minister appreciated the entry of highly qualified youth into the police force and expressed the hope that they will effectively perform their duties while striving for higher careers.
