Social Justice Minister Vanni Arasu inspected rain-hit areas in Kallakurichi district and directed officials to strengthen precautionary measures.

Accompanied by Collector JE Padmaji, the minister visited Porasakurichi and Virugavur villages in Thiyagadurgam block. He said the district administration has taken precautionary measures for the Northeast Monsoon.

He tasked officials to identify vulnerable areas, monitor preparedness and respond immediately to rain-related issues. They were also asked to collect details of local volunteers and coordinate with them during emergencies.

The minister also directed the health department personnel to monitor all areas to prevent the outbreak of infectious diseases. Officials were told to ensure chlorinated drinking water, uninterrupted electricity supply and prompt delivery of basic services. Calls received at the district control center should be handled immediately and forwarded to the concerned departments to take action, he said.
