Minister Telangany for IT and Industrial Section Dudll Sidhar Babu reaffirmed the government’s obligation to rejuvenate the Musi River and stated that he would not return to the project despite the resistance.
“Whenever a good initiative is accepted, there will always be forces that are trying to defend it. The same applies to Musi (project). But for future generations we will complete this mission. Telangana will stand as a model to maintain water resources,” the Minister said.
He spoke as the main guest at the opening conference of the South Zone Conference Institute of Town Planners India (ITPI), organized on Saturday in the Regional Chapter ITPI Telangana. The topic of the conference was “politicians and strategies towards biophilic urbanism”.
Mr. Sridhar Babu stressed that urban planning is the basis of economic prosperity and development, and he must go hand in hand with environmental sustainability.
“The construction of the buildings itself is not growing in growth. Every policy we frame, every forest that protects, every river we restore, and every living that we create-is about intergenerational justice,” he said.
The Minister pointed out that Telangana has already set national benchmarks in the expansion of urban greenery, neutral carbon growth, water protection and sustainable transport. He emphasized the role of technology in designing climate resistant cities and called for planning, which takes into account climate change, city floods, pollution, exhaustion of groundwater, reduce green coverage and rapid urbanization.
The conference was attended by the President of ITPI NK Patel, General Secretary of the Stringha, Coordinator (Techno Administrator) Pradeep Kumar, Chairman of the Regional Chapter ITPI Telangana S. Devender Reddy and Secretary K. Muralidhar Reddy, along with several city planners and politics.
Conference with the main speeches, panel discussions and technical presentations, focused on integrating natural systems and green strategies into urban design and planning to create natural, healthy and resistant cities.
