Minister of School Education Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi promised steps to improve the infrastructure of the famous Sarasvati Mahal library in Thanjavur.
Mr. Malesh, who inspected the library along with the district collector Priyanka Pankajam on Sunday, said Prespersons that the collector who is the director of the library has proposed certain requirements for the institution in the Thanjavur Palace complex.
Mr Malesh pointed out that the library was a treasure of palm manuscripts and other material, described it as a pride in Tamil Nadu. “It is our duty to protect and protect it. We regularly occupy developmental work here and we have to be even more. We want to ensure that there is no leakage in the library building.
The Minister said the collector submitted certain proposals, including the construction of a new building, and he would lead it with the main Minister MK Stalin for approval. S. Sudarshan, librarian, Sarasvati Mahal Library was present.
Sarasvati Mahal is one of the few medieval libraries in the world. There is a huge collection of manuscripts, maps, paintings and ancient books.
The repair work was expected to start to arrest rainwater leakage in the main library hall. In addition, the construction of two new buildings for the placement of a print press and a section of digitized manuscripts with the necessary equipment, added sources were designed.
