Oil Minister Union Hareep Singh Puri rejected the recent pro-Khalistan protests in Canada in front of the G7 summit on Monday and called the demonstrators hired Stooges who should not be taken seriously.
“One other video is the viral in which these people protest against the neighboring country after they did not receive funds from them,” Puri said.
“They are hired Stooges. Don’t take them seriously,” he said.
The Minister made notes while launched an exhibition that described the 11 years of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the 100 days of the Delhi government at the bjp headquarters.
The Prime Minister Modi is scheduled for Canada to attend the G-7 Summit from Cyprus at the second stage of his visit, at the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Puri was concerned about rising fuel prices in the middle of the ongoing Iranian-Israeli conflict and assured that India’s energy reserves remain robust.
“Today we have an energy situation where we have enough inventories, our own production is rising. Our mixing of bio-power in 2014 was 1.4 %in 2014, now it reached 20 %,” he said.
The Minister also recorded recent progress in the Indian green energy industry.
“Green hydrogen, which was considered to be fuel of the future, is now becoming a reality. Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) has issued an offer for its refinery Panipat and will run hydrogen buses in the coming times,” Puri added.
Meanwhile, Iran-Israel’s tension rattled global markets and pushed oil and gold prices higher.
On Monday (June 16, 2025), US oil oil increased by 20 cents to $ 73.18 per barrel, while Brent Crude won 95 cents to $ 75.18 per barrel. Asian markets reacted carefully with mixed power in the middle of concerns about the wider regional conflict and disturbing the global chain of oil supplies.
