The Minister of Health Telangany C. Damodar Raja Narasimha met with the chairman of the National Medical Commission (NMC) BN Gangadhar in Hyderabad on Saturday (May 31) and raised concerns about the problems facing medical medical students in private institutions, in particular with not paying and delayed scholarships.
During the meeting, the Minister emphasized the impact of a rapid increase in the number of private medical faculties in Telangana and stated that he had injected both infrastructure and recruitment of faculties. He called on the NMC to consider providing temporary exceptions in building standards and supporting efforts to occupy vacancies.
The Minister also emphasized the lack of postgraduate (PG) medical seats compared to the increasing number of MBBS graduates in the state. He called on the Commission to allow PG’s seats to be expanded to improve education opportunities for graduates and strengthening health care.
In response to concerns, the chairman of the NMC assured that the committee would examine the problems raised. According to official release, the chairman of the NMC also led an in -depth discussion on the overall functioning of medical faculties and hospitals and agreed on the importance of quality protection of medical education.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Health Christina Z. Chongth, Vice -Rector of Kaloji Narayan Rao University of Health Sciences (Knruhs) PV Nanda Kumar Reddy and other higher officials from the state health department.
