In order to prevent the interests of TELANGANY students in the ongoing legal battle for local quotas in medical admissions, Minister of Health C. Damodar Raja Narasimha together with Minister of Health Christina Z. Chongth on Monday 28th July) organized a meeting with the general attorney (AG) A. Sudarshan Reddy. The discussion, which took place before the hearing of the Supreme Court scheduled for August 5, focused on the legal strategy of the State to observe the government order (GO) 33.
The goal, presented last year, was aimed at ensuring that medical seats reserved according to the state quota were assigned to local students solely. This policy is currently facing a legal challenge for students studying in other countries looking for integration into the local TELANGANA quota.
During the meeting, the Minister urged the general lawyer to submit strong arguments in court to protect the rights of TELANGANY students. He also suggested that the government consider the involvement of higher legal experts, if required, to strengthen the case at the Supreme Court.
