BJP and former trade union minister John Barla joined the Congress of Trinamool (TMC) on Thursday and claimed that the saffron side did not allow him to work for tribal people.
Mr. Barla, who was elected on the BJP ticket from Alipurduars in 2019 and worked as a minister for minorities for minorities, expressed his disaster after the ticket to the Elections in Lok Sabha in 2024 was rejected.

BJP was replaced by Mr. Barly Manoj Tigg, the party’s main whip in the State Assembly, as his candidate for Alipurduars, and the new candidate appeared victorious.
“I wasn’t allowed to work for the development of tribal people during my BJP time,” Mr. Barla said after formally joined TMC.
“I believe that under the leadership of Mamat Banerjee I will be able to justice to cause the tribal population,” he said.
Since Barla was abandoned as a candidate, he maintained the distance from the leadership of West Bengal BJP and has caused speculation about his political future.
