
Minister of Infrastructure Development Karnataka MB Patil Patil ordered officials to shorten the travel time between Bengaluru and Vijayapura from the current 14-15 hours to approximately 10 hours. Mr. Patil, who chaired a high -level revision meeting with southwestern railway officials and proposed changes in the direction and upgrade of infrastructure to speed up the train services throughout the state.
To reduce the delay, Mr. Patil suggested diversion of trains to Hubballi South to bypass Hubballi’s main station and avoid changes in the engine in Gadag. He also suggested the use of the Gadag bypass to further save time on travel. Railway officials responded positively and promised to escalate proposals.
The Minister reviewed several railway projects, including the double monitoring of Gadag-Vijayapura, which could prepare a way for Vande Bharat Express as soon as electrification and improvements near Bagakote have been completed.
According to official release, he also worked concerns about the Dharwad – Kittur – Belagavi line and announced a public meeting in Mammigatti to resolve the soil acquisition questions.
