The surprising operation of Sting the Minister of Transport Maharashtra Pratap Sarnaik caused an online debate after reserved Rapido in Mumbai to reveal the unlawful platform operations in the state.
The Minister, representing as a normal commuting, used the Rapido application to book a taxi on the bike that arrived at Babu Oring Chowk near Mantralya, a state administrative center in a few minutes. It has been found that a vehicle with the MH 01 EU 8501 registration number is part of the company’s fleet, despite the Bombay High Court command in January 2024, which prohibits Rapido’s Services in Maharashtra due to insufficient license.
Sarnaik paid £500 to the rider and refrain from negotiations against him. “Administration of a case against a poor man like you will not help. Our struggle is against companies abusing such a platform,” the driver told.
However, the Minister’s movement divided public opinion on social media. While many appreciated him for taking things into his own hands and revealing a violation of the law, others asked if it was an advertising stuntman.
The user appreciated the minister: “At least someone is doing a job.”
“Lords, sir,” wrote another user on X.
However, a part of the Internet was not convinced. While several users called a promotional stuntman, others asked why not regularize it instead of banning it?
Another user asked whether it was a stuntman PR, “Pathetic Publicity Stunt, which is not even dealing with the real problems facing commuting. They simply resign to use our chances with another person.”
“What is happening with taxis for applications based on applications? Is it a cheap, fast and convenient mode, why not regularize it instead of disallowing it?” asked the third user at X.
This incident not only focused on continuing Rapido operations despite the ban, but also raised unpleasant questions about the supervision of the transport department.
Rapido, known for offering low -cost driving, was forbidden to operate in the state at the beginning of this year after failed to provide proof of legal permits before the court. The High Court in Mumbai ordered the suspension of its two -wheeled taxi, land and cars, and the company agreed to follow the judgment on the day of the judgment from 13:00.
