The library named after the former main Minister S. Bangharppa was inaugurated in the district unit of Shivamogg in Kannada Sahitya Parishat in the Sahity Gram in Shivamogg on Wednesday.
The Minister of School Education Madhu Bangarappa, who contributed funds to the library, launched it in the presence of Parishat.
On this occasion, the Minister said that he was happy that the library was named after his father, who maintained a good relationship with the writers and cultural personalities in the carnation. “I wish the library would increase in the coming days and it was a great collection of books,” he said.
The library has collections of various authors of Cannada and English. He has complete works by ambked, Mahatmy Gandhi’s works, including collections of short stories, dramas, Dalitian literature, Dasa literature and Jain Literature.
D. Manjunath, District President of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, said the library would be developed in such a way that it would be a center for researchers and students.
On the day, Parishat organized a lecture on the contributions of Ban Mushtaq, which won the Booker International Prize. Writer and publisher Akshata Humchadakatte spoke about the stories of Ban Mushtaq and the importance of her victory at the International Prize.
