Minister of Health C. Damodar Raja Narasimha on Wednesday on Wednesday felted higher officials from the medical department, who were either transferred in the recent IAS or left service.
The ceremony recognized their contributions to the administration of public health care and infrastructure.
Among the awarded were RV Karnan, a former health commissioner and family care and food safety commissioner; Borkhade Hemant Sahadeorao, who worked as CEO of Telangana Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TSMSIDC); and VB Kamalasan Reddy, who retired on Wednesday after working as CEO of the drug administration (DCA).
The Minister praised officers for their determination and appreciated their efforts to strengthen the public health system. “To serve so many people through the medical department is not an easy task. Officers did an incredible job last year, especially to strengthen public confidence in the government hospital,” he said.
Mr. Kamalasan Reddy was recognized as his intervention against counterfeit drugs and proactive recovery. He has credited with the leadership of several high impact inspections and was described as a national model of drug regulation, which served in various key roles during his career.
Mr. Karnan was awarded for his role in strengthening the services of non -transferable diseases (NCD) in Telangana. Several dialysis centers and clinical facilities were established under his leadership, which helped the state to acquire the position of the National Front-Runner in NCD screening.
Although Mr. Hemant Sahadeorao held his place for only 10 months, the Minister noted his significant contribution to the establishment of 21 central drug stores that played a decisive role in strengthening medical logistics and supplier chain.
