Minister of Higher Education R. Binda on Saturday hardly descended to MP Thrissur and Minister of Trade Unions Suresh Gopi and called his programs “Kalungu Samvadhangal” as “reminiscent of feudal durbbars, where poor ridiculous and humiliated”.
When he talked about the recent Irinjalakuda events, the Minister said that Mr. Gopi’s reaction to an older woman who increased her complaint was “against democratic standards and basic decency”.
“On the one hand, he claims that he is not only the Minister of this state, but for the whole country. He still forgets that he was elected as a thrissur deputy. He was the Thrissur people who voted him in parliament, and was his duty to listen to all their prosecution – whether they voted for him or not.
The Minister accused the actor of the inverted-politician of carrying his film arrogance to public life. “His remarks often give the impression that he lives in the illusion of film characters, not public representatives. Like screenwriters, he once gave the role of feudal landlords, now he behaves as if he was still playing such roles on the streets and testing people’s patience,” she said.
“Ordinary people approach him with the same respect and excitement as they once showed a film star, but Mr. Gopi reacts with lines that hurt rather than comfort. This repeated behavior is deeply problematic,” she said.
The Minister called this a dangerous combination of political irresponsibility and film deception and called on the leadership of the BJP to intervene. “The party must remind him that he is no longer in front of the camera, but in a responsible position where he is patiently bound to listen to the problems of people. He is a responsibility of BJP to help him come out of this false feeling,” she said.
