Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Nadendla Manohar on Monday said ₹400 crore was paid to farmers within five hours after they procured 1.35 million metric tonnes of paddy land in East Godavari district. He further added that at least 4 million metric tonnes will be procured in East Godavari district alone.
Mr. Manohar and Tourism and Culture Minister Kandula Durgesh on Monday inspected the ongoing purchase of paddy fields along the Godavari river.
During an interaction with farmers, Mr. Manohar said, “Farmers are guaranteed payment within hours of procurement of paddy. The procurement target of 51 million metric tonnes in Kharif 2025-2026 is a record in Andhra Pradesh.” He ensured minimum support price (MSP) for paddy rice with moisture content of 17% and timely supply of bags.
With rains expected across the state within a week, farmers have been advised to intensify paddy harvesting. Mr. Manohar said, “Farmers are allowed to dry the harvested rice at government sites and schemes to speed up procurement.”
The minister along with other officials will continue inspections of paddy fields and shopping malls in the Godavari region till November 26.
