A walkathon was organized in Mysuru on February 1 to raise awareness about the nutritional benefits of millets and encourage their consumption.
Organized by the Department of Agriculture, the walkathon titled Siridhanya Nadige, Arogyada Kadege started from the Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple and passed through the main streets of the city before culminating near the office of the old Deputy Commissioner.
The walk was attended by farmers, officials of the Ministry of Agriculture, students and the public, who highlighted the importance of millet as a healthy food choice.
After the walkathon, an interactive session on millets was organized at the Karnataka Exhibition Grounds. During the programme, the officials provided information on the nutritional value of millet and the need to include it in the daily diet.
