Minister responsible for Mandy District, N. Cheluvarayaswamy, prevented a hike in the price of milk and said that Karnataka still has the lowest milk prices compared to neighboring countries.
At the International Women’s Day celebrations carried out by various organizations at the Maddur Taluk stadium, the Minister explained that Karnataka produces 90 lacquer up to 1 liters of milk daily and the state allocates 1,500 Crore every year as a subsidy for milk manufacturer.
“A hike of 4 ₹ per liter does not benefit either milk trade unions or state government. The whole amount goes directly to milk manufacturers. This decision was approved by the state cabinet,” he said.
The Minister urged his parents to seize their daughters by ensuring that they were given good education. “Parents have to educate their girls’ children and prepare them for a better future,” he said.
He reiterated the obligation of the state government to support social, economic and academic strengthening of the position of women. He encouraged women to participate in politics and seek leadership roles.
Representation of women in Panchayats
Dinesh goi Gowda, MLC, emphasized the impressive participation of women in local administration. He noted that out of 4,000 Gram Panchayat members in the district is 2,016 women. Among them 136 serve as presidents and 139 as vice -chairmen. He also mentioned that Parliament approved 33% of the Reservation for Women.
MLA for Maddur Uday appreciated the remarkable performance of girls’ students and emphasized their consistent success in competing tests, including state services. “Women stand out in all fields and appear as toppers in various trials. They provide higher positions in the government and other sectors,” he said.
The program was attended by the CEO of Zilla Panchayat Kr Nandini and others.
