
The death toll due to consumption of milk adulterated with ethylene glycol rose to 16 with the death of 72-year-old P. Nageswara Rao on Saturday.
Nageswara Rao died at a private hospital where he had been receiving treatment for acute kidney failure since February 18.
In an official statement, East Godavari District Collector Kirthi Chekuri said three more patients, including two infants, are still undergoing treatment for acute kidney failure at Rajamahendravaram.
Up to 20 people developed acute kidney failure after consuming milk adulterated with ethylene glycol on February 15 and 16. The contaminated milk was supplied by the same vendor.
