The United Democratic Front (UDF) on Friday (December 19) announced its candidates for various key posts in the Kozhikode corporation and Kozhikode district panchayat.
District Congress Committee President K. Praveen Kumar and MK Muneer, MLA, announced the various candidates in two separate press conferences. Accordingly, the Congress and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) will share the post of district panchayat president. Congress’s Mili Mohan will hold the post for the first two-and-a-half years, while the League candidate will take over later.
KK Navas of IUML will be the district panchayat vice president.
SK Aboobakker of the Congress will be the official mayoral candidate of the United Democratic Front (UDF), while Fathima Thahliya of the IUML will be the deputy mayoral candidate. The Congress and IUML will share the post of party leader of the UDF council. Shalmeel Thangal of IUML will hold the post for the first two and a half years. Manakkal Sasi will be the Congress Council party leader while P. Sakeer will be the IUML party leader. Kavita Arun will be the candidate for the post of Chairperson of the Standing Committee.
