
Mild tension prevailed in Amberpet on Thursday (February 19, 2026) night after participants in the Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti procession raised slogans near a place of worship where Taraweeh prayers were being held.
The incident was reported after 10 pm when a group participating in the procession allegedly shouted slogans outside the Jamia Masjid while prayers were being held inside.
According to a police officer from Amberpet, the problem was mainly related to the noise level. He stated that the sound from the mosque exceeded the prescribed limits, to which some members of the procession protested. The present policemen intervened immediately on the spot, brought the situation under control and asked the concerned to turn down the sound.
Videos circulating on social media showed police officers controlling members of both groups and preventing the situation from escalating.
Police said the situation was quickly calmed down and normalcy restored. No arrests were made and no case was registered in connection with the incident.
