Migrant worker found dead in Perumbavoor, colleague in custody
A 21-year-old migrant laborer was found dead at a plywood factory on Old Muvattupuzha Road in Perumbavoor on Sunday (September 13) in a suspected murder. The deceased was identified as Muhammed Jahid, a native of Muzaffarpur in Bihar.
His 23-year-old male colleague, also from Muzaffarpur, was taken into custody by the Perumbavoor police in connection with the case. Police suspect that Jahid was fatally attacked by a man due to personal enmity.
“Jahid was last seen sleeping in the factory in the early hours of Sunday after his night shift. His friends later went to look for him when he did not return from the factory. They found him lying between a set of plywood panels and a wall, with an injury on his forehead,” Perumbavoor Inspector Manuraj GP said.
Police said they took the suspect into custody based on CCTV footage and that he was being questioned. An autopsy will be performed on Monday (September 14), police said.
