CEO Satya Nadella said Microsoft plans to use its recently revealed game catalog of artificial intelligence (AI) models that can generate 3D gaming environments. Xbox Parent has announced Muse, an AI model that can generate game visuals and controller actions last week to aid game development. Microsoft has been integrating AI into its gaming division over the past year. The company released the AI-powered chatbot for the Xbox platform in November 2024.

Nadella talked about the Muse AI model in a podcast last week and said Microsoft will have a catalog of games generated by the model, which will be played soon.
“The cool thing is that I’m excited about is…we’ll start using the game catalog of these models soon, or we’ll train these models to generate and start playing them,” Nadella in Dvak An episode of the Dwarkesh podcast says.
He added: “In fact, when Phil Spencer first showed me his Xbox controller, the model basically took the input and produced the output based on the input, and it was consistent with the game.”
According to him, the Muse’s launch was a “huge” moment, matching the release of Openai’s Chatgpt or Sora. “This is the moment,” Nadella said.
The Microsoft chief said that with Muse, the company hopes to generate games through game data that is consistent and supports continuous user mods.
Last week, Microsoft launched its World and Human Action Mode (WHAM) or MUSE. The model was teamed up by the company’s research gaming intelligence and professor of AI experience (TAI X) team with Ninja Theory at Xbox Games Studios, the developer of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2.
According to tech giants, the generated AI model can help game developers during the conception process and help generate game visuals and controller actions. Muse has received extensive training in human gameplay, and the data is taken from the Bleeding Edge of Ninja Theory (the MOBA title released in 2020).
