
The Department of Microbiology at Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI) has been accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) for a period of four years, marking a significant milestone for the institution.
Asima Banu, nodal officer of Trauma and Emergency Care Center attached to BMCRI, who also heads the microbiology department, said the accreditation given in the medical testing category will be valid till 2030.
The department, which has been providing laboratory services for several years, has substantially expanded its testing capabilities over the past decade. From conducting just three tests in 2016, it is now conducting 66 different tests in 2026.
