Jannik Sinner made ATP Masters 1000 history on Monday night at the Miami Open with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Corentin Moutet at Hard Rock Stadium.
With his emphatic third-round triumph, the Italian has now won 26 straight sets at Masters 1000 level, eclipsing Novak Djokovic, who previously held the record of 24. Sinner equaled that mark with a second-round victory on Saturday in Miami before surpassing it with another clinical display in the third round.

“I’m very happy,” Sinner said after his win. “This sport is unpredictable, so we try to stay focused as much as possible and see what comes in the next round.”
Sinner is bidding to join an elite group of players who have completed the double at Indian Wells and the Miami Open in the same season and arrived in Florida full of confidence following his victory in California earlier this month.

The Italian, who is eyeing a second title in Miami after lifting the trophy in 2024, comfortably negotiated a third-round clash with France’s 30th seed Corentin Moutet. Playing on the main court of Hard Rock Stadium, Sinner dictated the pace from the outset and rarely allowed his opponent to gain a foothold in the match.
Sinner’s remarkable streak stretches back to last November at the Rolex Paris Masters, where he clinched the title without dropping a set. He carried that form into March when he repeated his performance at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. With his two victories so far in Miami, Sinner has now won 13 consecutive matches at the Masters 1000 level, underscoring his consistency at the top level of the ATP Tour.
Against Moutet, there were few signs that the 24-year-old’s streak was in jeopardy. Sinner was dominant behind his serve, winning 87 percent of first serve points, according to Infosys ATP Stats. He also hit the ball cleanly from both flanks to finish with 23 game-winning goals to Moutet’s 11, ensuring the Frenchman never settled into a rhythm.
The one-hour, 11-minute win also improved Sinner to 2-0 in ATP Head2Head meetings. Additionally, he extended his unbeaten run against left-handers to 21 matches, a statistic that reflects both his tactical awareness and adaptability on the pitch.
“There’s Ben Shelton, Tien, Shapovalov, Moutet,” Sinner said when asked about lefties. “I don’t want to forget the other players, but we try to prepare as best we can, we try to be tactical and as perfect as possible.”
Sinner, currently ranked second in the PIF ATP Rankings, will face American Alex Michelsen in the fourth round on Tuesday. Michelsen progressed after beating Alejandro Tabilo 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, setting up an interesting clash with the in-form Italian.
As Sinner continues his run in Miami, he remains firmly on track to achieve the ‘Sunshine Double’, a feat last accomplished by Roger Federer in 2017.
