Mumbai Indians have signed Krish Bhagat as a replacement for Atharva Ankolekar who has been ruled out of IPL 2026.
A 21-year-old all-rounder from Punjab, Bhagat adds depth to the team with his dual skills. A right-arm medium pacer and a capable lower-order batsman, he has appeared in seven first-class matches and nine List A games. He has also shown promise with the bat, including a half-century in List A cricket, underlining his ability to contribute in multiple phases of the game.
The youngster is not completely new to the Mumbai setup. Bhagat has been a part of the franchise’s trials for the last two years and represented the Reliance team in the DY Patil T20 Cup earlier in 2026. He also acted as a support player for the team during the pre-season, which should ease his transition to the main group. He joins the five-time champions at his base price of INR 30k.
Ankolekar’s absence is a setback for Mumbai. The all-rounder left-arm spinner was part of India’s 2020 U19 World Cup squad and played a key role in the 2019 ACC U19 Asia Cup final where he was named man of the match against Bangladesh.
Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, are struggling to turn their season around after a slow start, having managed just one win in their first four matches.
