
Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) submitted a feasibility study to the State Government to expand the green Namma metro line from Madavary to Tumacur. The proposed section 59.60 km will contain 26 stations and, if approved, would become the first corridor of the intercity metro in the Namma metro network.
The feasibility report was prepared by Aarvee Associates Architects Engineers & Consultants PVT based in Hyderabad. LTD, which was banned for contract 29 June 2024 for 1.25 GBP Crore. The company explored the technical and economic viability of the construction of the line along the section of the road section of Tumacur and the corridor will be developed according to the model of the partnership of the public and private sector (PPP).

The proposal comes in response to the long -term requirements of the population of Tumacur and elected representatives, including the Minister of the Interior Karnataka and Koratagere Mla G. Parameshware.
Tumacura, located approximately 70 km northwest of Bengalur, is a growing city with thousands of commuting to Bengalur to work by train and bus. Calls for expanding metro connections to tumacura have intensified in the last few years.
The Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah announced this proposal in the state budget 2024 and prepared a way for a feasibility study. With the presentation of the report, the next step will be to approve the state cabinet the proposal. The detailed report of the project (DPR) will then be prepared and submitted to the Center for final approval.
‘Long waiting for demand’
“This is a long -waiting demand for people from Tumacur. The feasibility study has been completed by a Hyderabad company and will soon be reviewed by the government. It will be submitted before the cabinet approval,” Mr. Parameshware said. He added that the Minister of the Union for Railways V. Somann is expected to support the project on Wednesday.
