Metro Kolkata update: Kolkata Metro Rail Authority announced from September 3, suspension of its experimental late night train services, quoting operating problems.
Metro Kolkata said that due to the issued and operating restrictions related to maintenance at the Kava Subhash station in New Garia, the metro service will be suspended at 10:40 PM until the next announcement.
The new KOLKATA Metro Blue Line update will be effective from tomorrow.
“In order to suspend the Kavi Subhash station and for operational limits and maintenance problems, it will not be possible to run special experimental metro services at 22:40 from the Dumdum and Shahid Khudiram Stations in Blue Line WEF 03.09.2025 (Wednesday).”
The Kavi Subhas (New Garia) metro station in Blue Line is under the renovation and reworking after the cracks have been seen in some columns up about a month back. Metro’s railway said it would take nine months to complete the work and will become a terminal station in the blue line again.
Metro Kolkata increases services
Last month, Kolkata Metro said that from August 25, 284 trains on the blue line (Dakshineswar – Sahid Khudiram), which on weekdays denotes an increase in services.
According to Metro Railway spokesman, 262 trains used to work on weekdays.
“To satisfy the commuters’ request, the authorities will increase the metro services from August 25,” the spokesman said on Sunday.
“Metro will operate 284 (142 to 142 days) on Monday,” he added.
There are no changes in the number of meters on Saturday and Sunday.
26th August, however, the authorities announced that they had finished the journey of several trains from Dakshineswar in the extreme north to the Tollygunje station in the south to ensure the frequency of train services.
The steps were necessary as Dakshshineswar/Dumdum trains on the blue corridor (Dakshineswar-Garia), now using the Sahid Khudiram (Birji) station as a new terminal point with regard to the suspension of services from the Kava Subhas station, where cracks appeared at the submarine.
