Meta restores Keralam CMO’s Facebook posts days after removal, CM VD Satheesan reacts | Today’s news
On Saturday, Meta took back two official posts shared by CMO Keralam’s Facebook page, which the company had earlier removed. Chief Minister VD Satheesan shared an update and said it would be possible after his office intervened.
Meta returns deleted posts to CMO Keralam
While one of the two deleted posts on the social media platform was an announcement of an Onam festival contribution for ASHA workers, another was shared on the occasion of Nabi Day.
“Following strong action by CMO Keralam @Meta has restored official posts arbitrarily removed from @CMOKeralam Facebook page,” the CM said in a post on ‘X’.

CM Satheesan also raised questions about the removal and called it worrisome.
“While content is back online, the arbitrary removal of verified government communications, from festival greetings to welfare announcements, remains a serious concern,” Satheesan said.
The post also revealed that its secretary Rattan U Kelkar, IAS, had approached Meta and the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) regarding the matter.
The authority is seeking a formal explanation under the IT Act with a clear idea whether the posts were removed through automated or manual intervention and assurances to protect official government communication handles, he added.
“Secretary to CM Shri Rattan U. Kelkar IAS has taken up the matter with @Meta and @GoI_MeitY seeking a formal explanation under the IT Act, clarification on automatic or manual triggers behind removal and robust safeguards to protect official public communication handles,” the post read.
Keralam CMO is looking for an answer
Earlier, the CMO had written to Meta and the union IT ministry regarding the removal of the two posts and asked for their reinstatement along with an explanation of the action.
In a letter sent by Kelkar, the Union IT ministry has been asked to intervene in the matter to prevent further moves in line with the CMO.
