Academy awardee Resul Pookutty said the real essence of education is to enable individuals to question, analyze and critique.
Inaugurating the Merit Day celebrations at Fatima Mata National College on Friday (February 13, 2026), Mr. Pookutty noted that these qualities were the hallmark of the ancient Indian education system (Arshabharata). He further noted that by studying a language we are essentially reclaiming our rich cultural heritage. He called for the education of a young generation characterized by integrity and the courage to respond to social reality. The fair was presided over by the principal of the school, Cynthia Catherine Michael, and renowned architect Eugene Pandala spoke on the occasion. At the event, certificates, cash prizes and trophies were distributed to the students who won the highest honors in various Undergraduate (UG) and Post Graduate (PG) programs and who excelled in various arts and sports competitions.
