Megha Engineering & Infrastructure (Meil) based in Hyderabad (Meil) on Wednesday said it formally received an EPC 12 800 GBP contract from Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) to create two 700 MWe nuclear reactors
This is the largest order ever given by NPCIL and Marks Meil’s first main step to the nuclear energy sector, a field that will help shape the Indian energy future. It was also the first time that NPCIL used a selection method based on quality-cum-cost (QCBS) to award a project-rank with a careful balance between quality and cost. Megha, who competed with industrial giants such as Bhel and L&T, was selected for its strong technical approach and competitive prices, Megha said.
The order was handed over at the NPCil Mumbai headquarters to the director, Meil (Projects) Ch. P. Subbaiah. On this occasion, the management of Meil expressed confidence in the team’s ability to supply the project in time and at the same time maintain the highest standards of security, quality and care.
