
The Bangladeshi cricket council (BCB) confirmed the appointment of the versatile Mehida Hasan Miraz for the new captain of the ODI team of the national men and replaced Home Hossain Shanto. The 27 -year -old versatile player will lead the party for the next 12 months, starting with the upcoming ODI series with three matches in Sri Lanka scheduled for the next month.
Miraz, who had previously captain Bangladesh in four ODI in Shant’s absence, expressed his joy in comming a leading role.
“The captain of the national team is a dream come true. I am incredibly honored with the confidence that the advice included in me. It’s a proud moment for me and my family.
“I believe in this group – we have skills and thinking to play a fearless cricket. I want us to express ourselves confidently, we stay determined and played with the heart for the ground.”
With 1617 runs and 110 goals in 105 ODIS, Mehida Hasan is currently on 4th place. He joined the elite list of Bangladesh crickets – next to Mohammad Rafique, Mashrafe Mortaza and Shakib Al Hasan – to finish double 1000 runs and 100 goals in format.
At the beginning of this year, Miraz was also appointed vice -president of the Bangladesh test team for the first series of its new World Testing Championship, which was also held in Sri Lanka.
Chairman of the BCB Cricket Operations Committee emphasized the consistency and character of Mehida as key factors in the Board of Directors.
“Miraz has permanently supplied with Ba and Ball and brings combat spirit and infectious energy to the team.
“We are grateful for the positivity and character that Shanto depicted during his captain’s stint. He remains an integral part of our group of leaders and a key character in the branding unit.”
Shanto, who remains a Bangladesh captain and a central figure in the line -up line, was a decent run as Captain Odi. In his 13 matches at the helm he scored 564 runs on average 51.27, including remarkable BAT posts. Compared to nine losses during his captain, however, managed only four victories. Overall, he accumulated 1565 runs in 49 ODIS, on average 34.77, with three centuries and ten half -century in his name.
