Commissioner Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) RV Karnan assured that the roads damaged by constant rain would be repaired in time for the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities.
When Mr. Karnan addressed the convergence meeting he chaired on Monday to review the festival’s arrangements, he said that repairs were already underway on roads damaged by heavy rains, and any waiting work on the national motorways used for idol processions will also be completed in time.
He called on Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi and officials of all participating government departments to extend their full cooperation to ensure that the upcoming Ganesh festival is smooth and in a peaceful atmosphere throughout the city.
Ganesh Festivities are scheduled to open on 27 August this year to close the 6th September with idol immersion.
Mr. Karnan said that, as in previous years, GHMC, police and other government agencies will work in close coordination and assure that more cranes will be deployed in submersible places to ensure quick and safe immersion of idols. Coordination meetings at the level of zonal levels will also be carried out to ensure smooth implementation of plans.
Other Police Commissioner (Law & Order) Vikram Singh Mann has shared several security instructions, emphasized the need for quality materials and pandas cabling due to possible heavy rains, altitude limits to prevent traffic disruption, install at least one CCTV camera on Pandal and married volunteer teams in large pandars. He also recommended separate input and output routes for visitors on the main pandals and early start of key processions, including Khairatabad and Balapur to facilitate smooth immersion.
Members of Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi also introduced officials proposals for the smooth behavior of the festival.
