The buffalo has already been delivered to its buyer, while pictures from the scene show large gatherings of people flocking to catch a glimpse of the now famous animal.

‘Intent to please Allah’

Muhammad Fariduzzaman Sharon, the buffalo’s owner, was quoted in an ANI report as saying that he bought the animal nearly two months ago with the intention of offering it as Qurbani (sacrificial offering) for the upcoming Eid al-Adha and did not anticipate that it would become an internet sensation.

“As for my feelings, I actually bought this animal two months ago. So the main intention of buying it was to please Allah – that is to sacrifice it in Allah’s way. Now it has gone viral and that is why there is so much popularity and such a huge crowd,” he said.

The buffalo then weighed about 597 kg and was bought at about BDT 550 per kg, costing nearly BDT 330,000, which is about 2.5 Lakh in Indian currency.

“Just like anyone else who buys a cow or a buffalo for a normal Qurbani (sacrifice). I bought it normally. Only now has it become popular,” he said.

Dozens of people flocked to the farm daily, many traveling from far-flung neighborhoods to pose for selfies and videos with the unusually colored animal, which quickly went viral. social media, Reuters reported.
