The medical contribution for the former MLA and the former MLC increased by £ 25,000. The Tamil Government has increased a medical contribution to which they are entitled to each financial year from 75,000 to 1 lakh.
Revision of a medical contribution would be applicable from 1 April last year. The state government has changed the rules of lawmakers Tamil Nadu (medical participation and treatment for former members) of 1982 in this respect.
According to the rules, anyone who was a member of the Legislative Assembly or the Legislative Council (abolished in 1986) or both, but whenever he ceased to be such a member, he is entitled to medical concessions. They were entitled to a medical contribution of 75,000 GBP for each financial year.
