
The Municipal Society in Delhi (MCD) said on Thursday that under the 1957 DMC law there was no legal provision on closing of masses along the Kanwar Yatra routes.
This clarification came the day after Delhi’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mishhra chapels, noted that the masque shops would be closed along these routes and claim that the decision was made together by the Delhi and MCD, PTI reported.
The annual Kanwar Yatra, which takes place during the Hindu Moon of Shravan (Saawan), is from 11 July and will be closed on July 25.

In a written answer to the question in the MCD House, the Civic Body stated that under the Municipal Corporations Act in Dilli in 1957, there is no provision on closing of mass trails on the Kanwar Yatra routes.
In the last few years, however, it has been found that the owners of these facilities voluntarily maintain their shops closed during the annual pilgrimage.
“Regional offices (MCDs) have been ordered to lead a special campaign against illegal slaughter of animals and selling meat openly to ensure that religious feelings are not injured,” she said in a written response during the monthly house.
He also stated that civil officials were asked to ensure that mass stores along the Kanwar Yatra routes were “covered”. The mayor of Delhi Raja iqbal Singh repeated the legal status of the civic body.

“We will ask the owners of masses shops to voluntarily close their stores in respect for religious feelings associated with Kanwar Yatra,” PTI said.
Similarly, he added: “Those who do not have valid licenses will not be allowed to work. For those who are legal, we only ask for a request. This is a mutual respect between communities.”
Twenty -five Kanwar camps were set up in various places.
MCD said he had deployed 22 doctors to work in regular shifts supported by 10 on-call medical professionals.
Another 62 support workers were named and 12 mobile dental supplies will be provided by continuous health services, he said.

The civic body also deployed other hygienic teams and equipment in the Kanwar camps and along the pilgrimage routes.
Regional hygienists and engineering officers were instructed to remain vigilant and ensure that the roads remain clean and without waterlogging. Tankers of water and suction machines were placed at key points.
Meanwhile, a member of the Association of Mass Trade said PTI that the government should not combine trading in festivals.

Officials forbade people on sale of meat on sidewalks, streets or near camps during Yatra. MCD claimed that unlicensed shops or those found standards found would face a strict action.
