On Thursday (July 10, 2025), the Indian government separated from the comments presented by the Chief Minister of Panjab Bhagwant Mann, where he ridiculed the just closed five -core tour of the “10,000 inhabitants” and at the prices he received there. In a strictly formulated statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) raised against the comments “the high state office on Indian relations with friendly countries from the global south”.
“These remarks are irresponsible and regrettable and do not have a state authority,” Mea said. “The Indian government separates itself from such unfounded comments that undermine Indian ties with friendly countries.”
The sources explained that the statement of Mea referred to the comments during Mr. Mann’s press conference on Thursday (July 10, 2025) in Chandigarh on Mr. Modi’s foreign trips and especially his nine -day tour to Ghana, Trinidad and Tobaga, Argentina, Brazil and Namibia.
Mr. Mann, a former comedian and actor, said he wasn’t sure which the country was visited by the Prime Minister and refers to them with fictitious names such as “Magnesia, Galvesia, Tarvesia”.
“(Mr. Modi) does not want to stay in the country with a population of 140 Cores (India),” Mann said. “The countries he visits have only 10,000 and receive their biggest awards, but in India, 10,000 people will be gathered to see JCB (Digger and Bullzezer vehicle) at work,” he added. The reference to the population was made in joke, but it is wrong – the population of the countries that Mr. Modi visited from 13.7 lakh in Trinidad and Tobag and 21.11 Crore in Brazil.
According to Mea, Mr. Modi received more than 25 state and civil prices by different countries he visited since 2014, when he was first elected. During his last visit abroad (July 2-10) he was honored by an officer of the Order of the Ghana star, the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, the Brazilian large collar of the National Order of the South Cross and the Namibian order of the oldest Welwitschia mirabilis. In Argentina, the government of the capital also awarded the key Buenos Aires to Modim, although it is not a national honor.
During the tour, Mr. Modi organized a number of bilateral orders and also participated in the BRICS summit of developing economies, where he emphasized India’s commitment to emphasize the questions of global south.
