The Ministry of External Affairs on Monday (Oct 19, 2026) rejected the references to India in the resolutions passed at the October 17-18 meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Baghdad, terming them as “malicious, biased and false” and saying they were orchestrated by Pakistan.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement that it was disappointed that the OIC had “once again allowed itself to be exploited by Pakistan for its bigoted agenda”.

The MEA reiterated that the OIC has no standing to comment on matters that are strictly internal to India. According to him, the Union Territories of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh are integral and inalienable parts of India and “politically motivated propaganda” cannot change this reality.

The ministry pointed out that since the abrogation of Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir has seen significant economic growth, with infrastructure development, tourism and connectivity directly benefiting its people. It contrasted this with Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), where it said Pakistan had unleashed violence, repression and brutality on civilian protesters, killing many people, including women and children. “No media blackout” could hide these violations, he added.

The only outstanding issues regarding Jammu and Kashmir, the MEA said, were that Pakistan leave the areas under its “illegal and violent occupation” and stop supporting cross-border terrorism.

As for other references in the resolutions, including allusions to Islamophobia, the ministry called them a “desperate attempt” by Pakistan to divert international attention from its record of minority persecution and sectarian violence, as well as government failure and political instability.

The MEA said the OIC’s repeated endorsement of propaganda spread by Pakistan raised “serious questions about its credibility and integrity” and expressed hope that its members “will do better and reform this organization”.
