MCC worker attacked while cleaning flex banners

A contract worker of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) was allegedly assaulted while removing unauthorized flex banners at FTS Circle in NR Assembly constituency here on October 4 night.

The incident took place around 10.30 pm when Raghu, a contract worker attached to the Abhaya MCC team, was allegedly removing “unauthorised” flex banners and promotional materials along with other team members.

Raghu sustained stab injuries on his face, chest and arm. He was taken to KR Hospital where he received several stitches and was initially admitted to the ICU. He is now recovering in the ward.

Two people were arrested in connection with the alleged assault.

MCC Commissioner MK Savita visited KR Hospital and inquired about Raghu’s health.

The incident took place against the backdrop of the MCC’s decision to launch a special drive to remove illegal flex banners and promotional materials from the city ahead of the Mysuru Dasara celebrations.

Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, during his recent visit to Mysuru and the Dasara meet, directed the MCC and the city police to ensure that the city is cleared of illegal flex banners.
