In an effort to improve livelihood opportunities for women and persons with special disabilities, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) will organize a workshop and exhibition on solar panel assisted livelihoods at the Rangacharlu Memorial Hall (Town Hall) on Friday at 9.30 am.
Regional Commissioner Nitesh Patil made the announcement at the MCC office on Wednesday while releasing posters for the workshop as well as the upcoming Swachh Mysuru Road Show.
He said that 5% of MCC funds are earmarked for the care of persons with special disabilities and stressed that the allocated funds should be effectively utilized to provide vocational training that ensures sustainable livelihood.
The Friday program is organized in cooperation with the SELCO Foundation.
Participants will be trained in the use of solar-powered farming equipment, livestock machinery, small business tools and production units, enabling them to become self-employed.
Officials said beneficiaries will also be given assistance in securing bank loans and business start-up subsidies. Post-training monitoring will be done to ensure financial stability and to encourage others to opt for skill-based initiatives.
Road show
The MCC will also organize a Swachh Mysuru Road Show on Sunday from the Mysore Palace premises to the Oval on the theme ‘Swachh Mysuru nanninda prarambha’ (Clean Mysuru starts from me).

MCC Commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif said the road show will include veterans’ rally, women’s bike rally in view of International Women’s Day, bicycle rally, mounted police teams with horses, tongs and other groups.
