Mr. Behera explained that he meant only EdapPally channel in connection with shipping services, because this was not possible in other channels due to lack of vertical will caused by railroads.
“Now the priority is to complete the bridge along the Bund Road, while we continue to hope that we will receive consent to rejuvenate the market channel. We can also excite EDAppall of the channel to restore at least the flow of water, subject to sanctions from Kiifb.
Anilkumar said that a minimum width would be ensured for all channels, which would be lined with sidewalks with a seating arrangement to ensure access for future cleaning. Waste lines and reserved wastewater treatment plants would be installed along the channels.
He called on after a quick decision to prevent disproportionate delay that leads to escalation of costs. The costs have already increased from 2,000 crore to more than 3,000 GBP crore. “I am convinced that the project will be launched this year and completed over the next two to three years. Just as the management of solid waste has changed during the term of office, the channels will witness similar transformations during the term of the next council,” he said.
