
The state government disqualified the mayor of Belagavi Mangesh Pawar and a member of City Corporation Jayant Jadhav for accusing the conflict of interest. BJP criticized this step, with (government action) is politically motivated.
Minister, Ministry of City Development, Deep Cholan issued orders disqualifying Mr. Parwar and Mr. Jadhava on the basis of an investigation report by the Regional Commissioner and the Capital of the activist Sujit Mulgund.
Minister of urban development confirmed earlier orders of the Regional Commissioner disqualifying the two. Orders were issued on Friday.
Mr. Mulgund complained that both of them used a disproportionate influence on the allocation of shops in Rani Channabhairadevi Tinis Katte (Eat Street) built by the Department of Public Works in the City.
Some shops were assigned to family members of these two members. After looked at the accusation and studied the investigation report, the regional commissioner Sanjay Shettannanavar issued commands to disqualify the these two months a few months ago.
Mr. Pawar and Mr. Jadhav turned to the High Court in the Charders Against the Order of the Regional Commissioner. Until the final orders, the High Court allowed Mr. Pawar to attack and participate in the concerning elections.
Mr. Pawar and Mr. Jadhav are considered as followers of Mla Abhay Patil.
Meanwhile, Mr. Patil criticized a government decision called politically motivated. He accused the state government of negotiations against two elected revenge representatives.
Mr Patil said that both members who are now disqualified are questioning the government order in court. “The shops were assigned before the members were elected to the city’s local authority. It seems that it does not understand the leaders’ officials. I am convinced that the courts will rule in our favor and Mr. Parwar will be restored as the mayor.
