Former Arsenal Striker Jeremie Aliadiere Discusses Andrea Berta’s Potential Move to Arsenal and Matheus Cunha Rumors
Former Arsenal forward Jeremie Aliadiere has shared his thoughts on the possibility of Andrea Berta joining the Gunners as their new sporting director. Aliadiere believes the Atletico Madrid executive is poised to take over from Edu at Emirates Stadium and could bring Wolves’ standout player Matheus Cunha to North London.
Cunha, currently thriving in the Premier League with Wolves, was previously signed by Berta during their time together at Atletico Madrid. This connection has sparked speculation that the Brazilian forward could follow Berta to Arsenal, adding depth and versatility to Mikel Arteta’s attack. Cunha’s ability to play across the front three could provide Arsenal with additional firepower upfront or support on the wings, easing the load on Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
Could Berta Bring Cunha to Arsenal?
Aliadiere elaborated on the potential move, stating, “Berta knows Cunha from their time at Atletico Madrid, and it could be a deal that goes through. Cunha’s having a great season in a team struggling against relegation, which shows how good he is and how quickly he’s adapted to the Premier League. He could be a fantastic signing.”
On Berta’s appointment, Aliadiere added, “From what I’ve read, Andrea Berta seems to be the frontrunner for the role, with only minor details left to finalize. His experience at Atletico Madrid over 12 years, along with the signings he’s made and the club’s achievements, is very exciting. If you work alongside Diego Simeone at Atletico, you’re clearly very good at your job.”
Edu’s Legacy and Berta’s Vision
Aliadiere praised Edu’s contributions to Arsenal, saying, “Edu has done an excellent job since joining Arsenal, particularly given the state of the club when he arrived. The signings he’s made have been very effective.” He also emphasized the importance of a strong relationship between Berta and Arteta, stating, “Berta will need to have a great connection with Arteta to succeed.”
Why Cunha Could Be a Smart Signing
Cunha’s impressive form in a struggling Wolves side has highlighted his quality and adaptability in English football. His versatility and goal threat make him an attractive option for Arsenal, who are looking to strengthen their attack and mount a sustained title challenge. With Berta’s track record of identifying top talent, this potential transfer could be a win-win for both Arsenal and Cunha.
Aliadiere concluded, “It’s a very exciting time for Arsenal, and Berta’s connections with players he’s signed in the past could prove invaluable. Hopefully, this will lead to some big signings in the near future.”
