
At least 214 people died and several others were injured when heavy rains pounded various regions of Pakistan and Pakistan in the last 36 hours, officials confirmed on Friday, PTI reported.
Most of the deaths were reported from the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where intense precipitation led to lightning floods in several districts.

The floods also caused considerable damage to the infrastructure, destroyed numerous buildings and disrupted transport by blocking the main roads, including the Karakorama motorway and the Baltistan highway to Gilgit-Baltistan, located in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (POK).
The heavy rain in the Khyber then province Pak thenhtunkhwa is likely to continue until 21 August, the authorities warned.
At least 198 people, of which 14 women and 12 children were killed, and several of them remained missing because the lightning floods caused confusion across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the last 24 hours, said the spokesman of the Provincial Office for Catastrophe (PDMA).

The Directive for the whole province has ordered all hospitals to establish flood control rooms to ensure the continuous availability of medicines and the proper functioning of medical equipment in the middle of the ongoing crisis.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, located in Pakistan occupied by Kashmir (POK), the lightning floods in the Ghizer district claimed eight lives, and two individuals were still missing, the officials reported. The floods caused extensive damage and destroyed more than a dozen houses, vehicles, schools and medical facilities. The main highways, including the Karakorama and Baltistan motorways, were blocked at several points.
The Neelum Valley in the northeast also recorded severe disruptions. Tourists in this area were moved to safer places, with more than 600 campers near Ratti Gali Lake recommended to stay on the spot after cutting off the road. Two bridges above Lawat Nullah also swept the flash floods, while the swollen jagran zullah destroyed another bridge in Kundal Shahi.
In the Jhelum valley, Cloudburst nad Palhot launched a lightning flood that damaged part of the road network and left dozens of vehicles of the stuck. Since the water level of the Neelum River continues to grow rapidly, the authorities have issued a flood warning and are preparing to evacuate the endangered riverside communities.
In the Muzaffarabad district, a destructive landslide in the village of Sarli Sacha struck and buried six family members feared by the dead.
