Massive fire in Delhi’s Tughlakabad Extension kills 3, several rescued | Today’s news

A total of three people were killed after a massive fire engulfed a building in Delhi’s Tughlakabad Extension during the early hours of Friday. The Delhi Police said in a statement that five people were rescued by Delhi Fire Service (DFS) personnel, ANI reported. According to officials, the injured were taken to a nearby hospital with the help of the Centralized Trauma and Injury Service (CATS).

Nearly eight people sustained burn injuries in the incident and were taken to the AIIMS trauma center for treatment, according to fire officials. According to an ANI report, the fire broke out in a building located in Gali No. 1, near Naya Tara Apartment on Madhyam Marg, which falls under the jurisdiction of Okhla Fire Station-1 (OKH-1).

Firefighters received several emergency calls between 2:35 a.m. and 2:37 a.m., with eyewitnesses reporting a building fire and the possibility of people trapped inside the building. Three water tanks, two water tanks, one respiratory support unit and one rapid response vehicle were immediately dispatched to the scene. Late, another water tug/light fire unit joined the search and rescue operation.

Speaking to ANI, DFS Assistant Divisional Officer (ADO) Yashwant Singh Meena revealed that the building consists of a ground floor and five upper floors. Rescue and firefighting operations encountered several problems because the building is located in a narrow street. Several officials assisted ADO Meena in the fire and rescue operation, including Station Training Officer (STO) Mukul Bhardwaj, Station Officer (SO) Samarth Lal and Station Officer (SO) Raj Kumar.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the fire started in vehicles parked inside the house. The situation was brought under control at 3:45 a.m. when authorities successfully extinguished the fire. Overall, firefighting operations came to a halt at 4:00 a.m. after the DFS issued a cease and desist message.

In the final phase of the intervention, the firefighters freed another person, bringing the total number of people rescued by DFS workers to six.
