At least nine people were injured early Sunday morning in Cincinnati, Ohio, at an East End music venue after a mass shooting incident.
The incident happened at 4343 Kellogg Avenue, local police said, according to a FOX19 report. The location of the shooting coincides with the location of the popular concert venue Riverfront Live, the publication said.
DJ Fresh, who was scheduled to perform at the venue late Saturday, posted on Instagram the birthday bash that will be held at Riverfront Live.
No suspect description has yet been released, and police have not confirmed whether the shooting happened at Riverfront Live.
“This investigation is still ongoing,” CPD said around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, FOX19 reported.
“The son shot four times…” says the victim’s mother
Antoinette Coates told FOX19 her 35-year-old son was among those injured in the shooting, adding that he was shot four times but is expected to recover.
“If you’re going to have these parties, make sure people are safe,” she said. “Nobody seems to be checking who’s coming in. The guns are getting through and that kind of carelessness could have cost my son his life,” Coates was quoted as saying by the media.
“Three men came from behind…” – Says an eyewitness
An eyewitness, who did not want to be named, told FOX19 he saw a man on the floor being attacked by four to five others before he was “rendered unconscious.”
About 10 to 15 minutes later, he said he saw “three guys come from behind and shoot into the club and run out the way they came.”
Police have not confirmed if the shooting was related to an earlier altercation or an event at Riverfront Live.
