
A mason has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting and murdering a four-year-old girl in a labor colony in Puppalaguda. Narsingi police said the child’s body was recovered from the bushes near the construction site.
The accused has been identified as 25-year-old Biswa Oraw alias Bishu, a mason working for Western Constructions in Puppalaguda and a native of Malda district in West Bengal.
Police said the girl’s father approached them around 10.30 pm on Sunday (March 15) and said that his daughter was missing from their residence at BSR Labor Colony in Puppalaguda. Based on the tip, a case was registered and police teams started searching for the child.
During the investigation, the accused was nabbed within hours. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to sexually assaulting the girl and beating her to death with a rock to cover up evidence.
The police urged citizens to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity or information regarding criminal offenses to the nearest police station or via the emergency line 100.
Officials also advised construction site owners to deploy two or three female supervisors and provide a designated area to care for workers’ children while their parents are at work to prevent such incidents.
