Married man, woman found unconscious on train, hospitalized
A married man and woman were admitted to Gandhi Hospital after they ingested a poisonous substance while traveling by Sabari Express to Secunderabad on Tuesday, in what police said was an attempt to end their lives.
The victims were identified as Sriram Sirish Kumar, 34, a native of Chapra village in Meliaputti mandal of Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh, and Gulevendula Neelaveni, 34, a resident of the same village who lived in Moosapet, Hyderabad.
According to the Government Railway Police (GRP), railway authorities alerted the police after two passengers were found unconscious in the head coach of train No. 20630 Sabari Express as it approached Secunderabad railway station around 1 pm.
A railway police constable rushed to the bus and took the two victims to Gandhi Hospital in ambulance 108.
During the investigation, the police learned that Sirish Kumar is married to Sulochana and the couple has two sons. Preliminary investigation revealed that Sirish Kumar and Neelaveni were allegedly in a relationship for the past two months.
The couple reportedly left their village and traveled to Coimbatore about a month ago. After she tracked them down, Sulochana allegedly advised them and convinced them to return to Hyderabad along with her in the Sabari Express.
However, before the train reached Secunderabad, Sirish Kumar and Neelaveni allegedly ingested the poisonous substance and lost consciousness.
The incident has been registered as a medico-legal case and the Government Railway Police is investigating the circumstances that led to this step.
