The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on Thursday expressed deep grief over the bus accident in Markapuram district and condoled with the families of those who lost their lives.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced an ex-gratia of ₹5 lakh each to the families of the deceased. He directed the officials to provide financial assistance of ₹2,000 to anyone who was seriously injured and undergoing treatment.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep grief over the tragic road accident. He described the incident as “deeply disturbing” and expressed his condolences to the bereaved families. He prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident.
Announcing the financial assistance, Mr. Modi said an ex gratia of ₹2 lakh would be given to the next of kin of each deceased, while those who were injured would receive ₹50,000. The compensation would be paid from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF).
Jagan is looking for a probe
YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed grief over the tragedy. He expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and urged the government to immediately provide financial assistance and ensure advanced medical care for the injured. He further demanded a thorough investigation and strict action against those responsible, stressing the need for stronger road safety measures.
BJP state president PVN Madhav called the incident “heartbreaking”, especially as women and children were among the victims. He urged party cadres to help the victims and urged the government to extend full support.
CPI(M) State Secretary V. Srinivasa Rao expressed his condolences to the families of the bereaved and urged the government to provide immediate relief and medical assistance to the injured. He expressed concern over the increasing frequency of bus accidents, cited non-compliance with preventive measures and demanded a thorough investigation into the causes of accidents.
