Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelsky on Tuesday expressed gratitude towards British Prime Minister Keir Starmer after new sanctions in the UK towards Russia, because Zeletskyy believes it would help to push Moscow to Peace.
The Ukrainian President said in the X report: “I spoke to British Prime Minister Kier Starmer. I thanked him for new British sanctions that help push Russia to peace.
“Keir and I discussed the key elements of our diplomatic efforts and potential meetings that could actually provide a ceasefire and progress towards permanent peace. We also discussed yesterday’s interview with President Trump, as well as our joint events in the coalition.” He added.
According to a press agency, emphasizing the need for a coordinated international reaction and permanent pressure, he said: “Our European partners are already preparing further steps in this critically important canvas on Russia to stop the war.”
The US can consider new sanctions for Russia
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio reportedly said on Tuesday that Russia will be killed by other sanctions in Washington, unless Moscow provides a formal proposal that indicates its conditions for ceasefire in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, reported or quoted Anadol.
Before the Committee on the Foreign Relations of the Senate, Rubio said that such a delay from Russia would show that Moscow had a real intention to negotiate on this matter.

“We understand that the Russians will write conditions for what they would require to achieve a ceasefire, which would then allow wider negotiations,” said the Senate committee, as Anadol’s agency quoted.
“We are waiting for these conditions and then I will have a much better understanding of Mr. Putin’s calculation as soon as we see what these conditions look like,” he added.
Asked about the possibility of new Rubio sanctions, such measures are likely whether Russia seems to be willing to strive for peace and continues to effort, the report said.
“If it is clear that the Russians are not interested in a peace agreement and just want to continue to fight the war, it can come very well by then,” said Anadol’s agency quoted.
Rubio, however, stressed that US President Donald Trump prefers not to endanger sanctions at this stage and fears that he could derail the diplomatic process.
