
Theodosius Mar Thoma Metropolitan, head of the Syrian Church of Malanka Mar Thoma, expressed deep concern over growing attacks on the Christian community in India and criticized the Indian Election Commission for showing intolerance to those who point out mistakes on voters.
Metropolitan stated that the rights should not be rejected because of the technical sites that would not be rejected by the annual representative gathering of the Church of Mar Thoma in Thirvalle. Instead, people must have the opportunity to fix mistakes. “Voting right is the fundamental right of the citizen to determine the administration of public affairs. The rulers and the constitutional institutions do not have the power to reject or undermine it,” he said.
He said that growing attacks and police action against Christians, especially in the North Indian states, are a matter of serious concern. “It is alarming that even representatives of people now go so far that they openly promise rewards for negotiations against priests and missionaries. The law against conversion is often abused. Given their relatively small population, Christians should be declared micropodutity and prolonged protection,” he added.
The metropolitan also criticized the state government and warned against its policy, which weakened the auxiliary education sector in Kerala. He pointed out that the government’s attitude towards the reservations of disability was discouraging and stated that the transformation of teachers into daily wage employees, without the permanent appointment, would eventually lead to a decrease in the quality of education.

A total of 1,604 delegates from around the world, which will be closed on 4 September, participate in the assembly.
