
Two villagers were killed by Maoists in the CHHhattisgarh Sukma district, the police said on Tuesday (September 2, 2025). With this, the total number of civilians killed by Maoists in Chhattisgarh this year touched 36.
Sukma Superintendent of Police (SP) Kiran S. Chavan confirmed the murder. The duo was identified as Devendra Pads and Padam Pojja, both inhabitants of the Nandaro area in the village of SirSetti under the jurisdiction of the Kherapal police station, Mr. Chavan said.
“The police verified the inputs and took further legal steps in this context. Details of the incident will be shared later,” SP said on Tuesday (September 2, 2025) in the evening.
29. August, “Shikshadoot” (a temporary guest teacher in government schools), was kidnapped and killed by Naxality in Bijapur. Another “Shikshadoot” was killed in a similar incident in the Sukma district of August 27.
The place of the last killing was almost 5 km from the nearest police camps, said Mr. Chavan. Due to the scattered population and the challenges in the field, ensuring security coverage was difficult, he added. Such incidents occurred mostly at night, when the Maoists considered easier to kidnap their goals and eliminate them, said Sp.
